Firmware & Board-Level Analysis

Component-level hardware and firmware work across laptop and embedded platforms, including board-level diagnostics, schematic reading, fault isolation, and surface-mount rework. This work covers firmware extraction and flashing (including ECU and BIOS/UEFI firmware), serial-number and firmware validation-chain analysis, and component-level modifications to enable non-standard hardware configurations.

It also includes replacing proprietary BIOS/UEFI firmware with the open-source Coreboot firmware — direct SPI flash-chip programming, firmware configuration to support all hardware components, BIOS-level serial-number programming, and PLL modification through firmware. This experience with low-level firmware structures, flash programming, and boot-chain analysis directly informs expert witness work involving firmware disputes and embedded-system investigations.
